How to Delete Your Account

Important Notice
Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All your data, including expense history, groups, and personal information will be permanently removed from our system.
Steps to Delete Your SplitX Account
If you've decided to delete your SplitX account, you can do so directly from the app by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Open the SplitX App
Launch the SplitX app on your iOS or Android device and make sure you're logged in to your account.
Step 2: Go to Account Settings
Tap on your profile icon in the bottom navigation bar to access your "Account Settings".

Step 3: Click on "Permanently Delete Account"
Scroll down to the bottom of the Account Settings page and tap on the "Permanently Delete Account" button. This option is located at the bottom of the page.
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
A confirmation dialog will appear asking if you're sure you want to delete your account. To proceed with the deletion, tap the "Delete" button. You may need to enter your password or confirm your identity for security purposes.

Step 5: Account Deletion Complete
After confirming, your account will be scheduled for deletion. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.
What Happens After You Delete Your Account
- All your personal information will be permanently removed from our database
- Any groups you created will be transferred to other members or disbanded
- Your transaction history and expense records will be deleted
- Any outstanding balances should be settled before account deletion
- You will no longer receive emails or notifications from SplitX
- Your account cannot be recovered once deleted

Alternative Options
Not sure about permanent deletion? Consider these alternatives:
- Deactivate Temporarily: You can deactivate your account instead, which hides your profile but preserves your data for when you're ready to return.
- Data Export: Before deleting, you may want to export your expense history from the "Data & Privacy" section in Account Settings.
- Adjust Notifications: If you're getting too many notifications, you can customize your notification settings instead of deleting your account.
